Dear Colleagues
We are currently accepting applications to the MA Media, Culture and Identity at the University of Roehampton until the end of March 2013.
The programme grapples with contemporary cultural and political issues related to the politics of identity in the media age. Drawing on theories including psychoanalysis, Marxism, feminism and postcolonial theory, it provides students with an opportunity to explore TV, film, print media and digital cultures and focuses on debates about the formation of social and cultural identity, emotion, visual culture, everyday life, global and local cultures, the public sphere and imagined communities.
Traditionally, the programme has attracted mature students from a range of international and professional backgrounds and this makes for a lively mix of interdisciplinary discussion. It has been designed by members of the Media Culture teaching team and draws on their published research to offer a unique programme of study. The atmosphere is friendly and accessible and the programme offers a route toward further study at the research degree level as well as enhancing career opportunities. We welcome applications from a range of backgrounds and are happy to discuss the course informally with a view to supporting your application.
