Delegates of UKSG’s 36th Annual Conference are invited to join representatives from OCLC, The University of Oxford and EBSCO, on Monday 8th April at 17.30 in Tregonwell Seminar Suite 1 of Bournemouth International Centre, as they explore the complexities and issues facing libraries in the management of eResources.
It’s clear, one of the top priorities facing academic libraries is the delivery of licensed materials. Maximising the exposure of eBooks, journals, articles, databases and digital materials while reducing the total cost of acquiring, managing and analyzing the use of these collections is becoming increasingly critical and is giving rise to a re-imagining of workflows, partnerships and collaborations in the library community.
OCLC recently announced it is working with several members of RLUK (Research Libraries UK), to pilot WorldShare Metadata Collection Manager, a new service which delivers bibliographic records for electronic materials automatically to libraries. This ensures the metadata and access URLs for these items are continually updated, significantly streamlining the processes of managing eResources. The University of Oxford is one of the institutions piloting the service and in this session, Alison Felstead, Head of Resource Description in the Collection Support Department, Bodleian Libraries, talks about her motivations for joining the pilot and the benefits she hopes it will bring to the way her library manages eBook collections.
Following Alison, EBSCO’s Steve Giannoni, Academic Sales Manager and Gareth Smith, Sales Director for the UK & Ireland explore new developments around content and library integration, and how they are working with partners such as OCLC to provide libraries with the best combination of interface and resource mix to maximise the exposure and usage of eContent at the users point of need.
Drinks and canapés will be provided plus plenty of time for questions and discussions. So, please join us for us for what should be a lively discussion.
Date: Monday 8th April
