Good afternoon friends,
I have been temporarily unable to study the copy of John Bell's /Engravings, explaining the anatomy of the bones, muscles and joints/ which I have been cataloguing, and concerning which I sought information in February.
However: having taken a closer look, I now believe it to be a copy of the 1804 edition with a 1794 title page attached. My reason for this is, that there are no chain lines visible on the paper, except on the title page and the errata page [leaf 3], where the chain lines are very strongly marked (leaf 2 carries the dedication and has no chain-lines).
This may be an incorrect conclusion to draw, and if so I hope that someone will correct me. Meanwhile, now all I have to do is work out how to express this little inconvenience in the catalogue record...
Best wishes,
Jane
