Folks,
I've been asked by our H&S department to consider changing the orientation of bottom-shelf books. Their opinion is that laying bottom-shelf books spine-up would both reduce the possibility of musculo-skeleton problems amongst the shelving team, and improve shelf-mark visibility for readers. Our stock is currently shelved with spines facing out.
I've never seen bottom-shelf books shelved with their spines facing upward. Does anyone do this? Has anyone's shelving team complained of musculo-skeletal or eyesight problems caused by bottom-shelf books being shelved 'spine-out'?
I'll be interested to hear from anyone with an opinion on this.
Thanks
Stephen
