Our local student union got rid of a whole lot of LPs, together with a load of books, to charity shops. I'd contact whatever is local to you and ask if they'd collect, assuming you'd rather not go to the hassle of delivering. Also whether they'd take the whole lot or take a lot of time picking and choosing, and leave you with having to come up with another solution for the remainder, which may influence whether you want to deal with them or not.
Best wishes

Subject: Re: Unwanted stock: anyone interested? Or offer advice on disposal?
Frank - not an expression of interest or source of successful suggestions because I have a collection of probably a thousand gramophone records and probably 200 lps which was an unwanted donation that we can do nothing with and I have not found a good home yet. . I tried the British Library but they were only interested if items sufficiently unique ( they have large collections donated by the recording companies) and also tried several of the schools of music. If anyone knows of anyone who is interested in gramophone records, I would love to hear because like Frank,
I am really loathe to junk the collection. They are bakelite and even
have the franked postage stamps on the centre piece to indicate duty has been paid - I have tried everyone including local jazz society ( mainly classics and 1920/30's jazz). Our problem is that like Frank, we don't know what we have and it really would be a huge task to undertake to catalogue if there is no interest
Oxfam music shops do take LPs - would that be worth a try ? If anyone has any suggestions for both LPs and gramophone records, I would be very grateful
Thanks
Margaret
