Seven bursaries to attend the Umbrella Conference Manchester University 2-3 July 2013
The Health Libraries Group (HLG) and CILIP are pleased to offer seven bursary places to attend this year's Umbrella conference in Manchester. This will include:
· A complimentary place on both days of the conference
· Attendance at the drinks reception at The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI)
· The conference dinner
· £200 towards travel and accommodation, as required.
Six of the bursaries will be for HLG members, and one bursary is for any CILIP member. If you are members of both groups you may apply for both, but please state this on your application letter and give details.
The aim of CILIP's Umbrella 2013 Conference is to reach out to members, society, government and communities to give a strong message so that all can understand the relevance and contribution to and impact on society of the Library and Information Profession.
Themes this year reflect the four policy areas that CILIP is currently developing and/or implementing: future skills and future roles; information to best support society; forming and informing the Government's agendas; partnerships for progress.
HLG and CILIP are keen to support people who might not normally have the opportunity to attend the conference. Priority will be given to first time attendees, in particular newly qualified professionals and staff working in a non professional role. The successful applicants will be expected to be active at the conference, for example by tweeting so that members unable to attend can follow and will be required to write about their experience for the HLG newsletter or website.
For full and up-to-date information about the conference please visit the Umbrella 2013 website:

There is no application form. Applications should take the form of a letter saying why you would like to attend, which bursary you are applying for (HLG, CILIP or both and providing details of membership), how you will share you conference experience with others and a CV. These should be sent electronically to Chris Thornton HLG Awards Co-ordinator: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by the 30th of April 2013, and winners will be announced by the end of May 2013.
Best wishes
