ILIG is pleased to invite you to join us on 10 April for networking, refreshments and an opportunity to listen to a guest speaker from Australia who will be providing a unique view into the Vietnamese Library Profession. Friends, colleagues and guests are all welcome - please just book online at http://tinyurl.com/ILIGinformalApril2013

Title: Vietnam viewpoint. Delivering LIS education in South-East Asia
Date: 10 April 2013 Time: 18.00-19.45
Place: CILIP, 7 Ridgmount Street, London WC1E 7AE

Cost: FREE - all welcome (but please book online at http://tinyurl.com/ILIGinformalApril2013)

Dr Janet Murray joins us from Melbourne to talk about the LIS education programs she was involved with in Vietnam between 2005 and 2009. She will give an insight into library development and initiatives taking place within Vietnam by relating to her experience of working with colleagues at the National Library of Vietnam and within the Vietnamese University library sector. Jan will provide an overview of the issues that have affected the library industry and will explore how the expansion in the information sector mirrors the rapid rate at which Vietnam is developing at a national level.

Jan is Director of Murray Consulting & Training Pty. Ltd. (MCT) and has been a member of CILIP and its predecessor the Library Association, for over 40 years. In addition to extensive management experience in local government, state government and universities in the UK and Australia, Jan has lectured in management, information management and librarianship at the University of Melbourne, RMIT University and the University of Ballarat. Her doctoral research examined the provision of services to school students with special needs.

Directions to CILIP: http://www.cilip.org.uk/contact-us/pages/map.aspx

The access codes for the building are E, G, W, X.

ILIG Informals are not lectures; they are informal, but informative, early evening meetings with a short talk on a theme of international interest plus plenty of time for questions and networking. They are open to all (friends, colleagues, family) and absolutely free.

Light refreshments (nibbles and wine) are served which is why we ask you to let ILIG know you are coming by booking online at
http://tinyurl.com/ILIGinformalApril2013 by 8th April.

Thank you. We look forward to seeing you.
