Call for participants:
Have you ever been emotionally, sexually, physically, verbally or financially abused by your partner? Or have you noticed that they try and control you, for instance by not allowing you to see your friends or family? If these experiences are familiar to you and identify as bisexual and live in the UK, you may be in a position to inform professionals on how to begin helping people like yourself at times of great need.
My name is Sarah, and I'm a trainee counselling psychologist at the University of Surrey. I've been researching intimate partner abuse in LGBT populations for a couple of years now but I am yet to hear anything about this experience from the bisexual perspective. This is ground breaking research as nothing like this has been conducted (neither in the UK or elsewhere)! It's high time that this silence was broken.
The study has gained ethical approval from the University of Surrey and in recognition of the impact partner abuse has on people's lives, it is required that to take part in the study, a person is no longer in an abusive relationship but information about services that specialise in providing support in this area can be provided if required.
If you'd be interested in taking part in this study and are able to share your experiences, please do contact me for further information either by:
