I assume that you have looked at all of the well elderly stuff that Clark et al at USC have done?

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for all the replies. This forum is very helpful, especially the ladies :)
1. Hi vijaya, I am in Miami. 2. We are looking at older people and how to improve physical function in old healthy population(>60) ( not frail) through exercise, a type of strength training program. I went to a senior center, but the problem is that they cannot drive to the lab since they don't have transportation. We have machines and such in our lab. I put fliers up in the library and couple of churches.
2. Hi Amy,Thanks are always. You are super helpful ! :) I hope it is ok to post pdf's of those books here. Is there any good or a popular textbook you recommend? I can always order it through the library here. I just don't know how many older folks use social media you know. I looked up silver sneakers, but our inclusion criteria is they shouldn't have lifted weights for the past one year..
3. hi Diana, Thanks!! I will ask the geriatics school here. Maybe they would know. How do I get the national registry?
Thanks again!

Re question 2-
i) Where are you based ? Your local demography will be useful to suggest useful options
ii) What is the focus of your research- to answer your research question do you intend including both the visible and invisible old.
Here are some pointers-
if its an intervention for people with established disease, the well old do not frequent senior centres, but are closer to school based communities,
because they are often active in childcare ! But school run grandmas often know older people and may spread the word and facilitate recruitment.
iii) Do you intend including 65 to extremes of age ? i
Supported living communities/ facilities are a good bet to get the entire age range
In some countries pension issue days have OAP discount retails services so even a shopping centre coffee shop sees more of them.
Charity shops etc often have older volunteers and will popularise your cause within their peer group beyond the confines of the shop.
iii) Likewise there is a growing silver surfers community online

I had 2 questions for the group:
1. Do you have any suggestions for learning more about designing and conducting clinical trials? The book might be a good add for the wiki.
2. Also , does anyone have any suggestions of recruiting older folks ( >65) for a study? I am trying the local churches and senior center and so forth.
Thank you so much!
