We're looking for two PhD students to work on a Resilience Assessment and
social-ecological bundles of ecosystem services in the Stockholm region
These two positions are part of the PECS-SEEN
<http://www.pecs-science.org/research/projects/seen.4.5a50a14e13b817f038824a

The first of the PhD projectsexternal link

ip-analyzing-ecosystem-services-in-the-norrstrom-basin.html> will assess
whether social-ecological interactions produce reasonably coherent sets of
ecosystem services or bundles in the Norrström drainage basin surrounding
Stockholm, Sweden. The student will:
i) develop methods to identify and analyze bundles of ecosystem services
across socially relevant units in Sweden, based on publically available data
such as census and GIS data, across the Stockholm region within local
municipalities (kommuner)
ii) analyse drivers of social, ecological and geographic drivers of
ecosystem service change across the region
iii) develop scenarios of possible future ecosystem services for this region
iv) compare these methods and results to those developed by other regional
social-ecological assessments of ecosystem services
The second PhD projectexternal link
<http://www.stockholmresilience.org/21/about-us/vacancies/doctoral-studentsh
ip-resilience-assessment-in-the-norrstrom-basin.html> will generate
policy-and-practice relevant knowledge on the resilience of ecosystem
services in the Norrström drainage basin surrounding Stockholm, Sweden, by:
i) establishing how historical and current policy arrangements affect the
provision of, access to, and resilience of ecosystem services across the
region
ii) preparing a regional Resilience Assessment of ecosystem services across
the Norrström region through participatory engagement with relevant
stakeholders and in connection to existing strategic planning processes at
the local government and Stockholm regional government levels.
The application deadline is 2nd May 2013.
