The Moving Targets project invites paper proposals for its conference, Moving Targets. Selected papers will be presented at the conference in Dundee, October 15th and 16th, 2013.
Moving Targets will be hosted at Dundee Contemporary Arts DCA. The conference programme will consist of paper presentations, across a range of disciplines and modes of inquiry, addressing examples of co-creative practices that have formed around co-creation, direct digital publishing and audience relationships. Case studies and papers, including examples arising from the Moving Targets project and other contexts will be presented. Conference proceedings will be peer reviewed and published in the November 2013 Issue of Participations Journal of Audience and Reception Studies.
Moving Targets welcomes abstracts of up to 500 words for papers that address issues relating to audience engagement and media creation under the general themes of Understanding Audiences, Co-Creation, and Direct Publishing.
Topics include but are not restricted to,

• Audience development with cultural organizations
Co-Creation
• Designing and developing media with audiences
• Developing and engaging audiences through co-creation
• User Generated Content, Social networks and online communities
Direct Publishing
• Social Marketing and audience demand
• Business models for new digital markets
• Data gathering and analysis
About Moving Targets
The Moving targets project seeks to create an innovative and sustainable knowledge exchange mechanism, which fulfils the Media sector's need to respond to the emerging market trends of global consumers. Bringing together universities, the creative industries, agencies and audiences the project seeks to promote understanding of new business models and new relationships driven by direct publishing platforms by devising and developing new models to engage new audiences. Demand-led by industry, Moving Targets facilitates the flow of knowledge between researchers, producers, policy makers and consumers of Creative Media.
Moving Targets brings together universities, industry, agency and audiences to develop new models for new media audiences in the creative media industries. Project partners include University of Abertay, University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh College of Art; Creative Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and Creative Skillset; BBC Scotland and a range of creative media SMEs.
Abstracts of papers should be of no more than 500 words. A biographical statement of no more than 250 words should be included (additional to the abstract word count). Abstracts must be sent attached to email as a single Word file (or in a format which can be converted into Word) and not exceed 4 megabytes in size. They should include clear indication of technical and resource requirements as well as duration and space requirements (if applicable).
All submissions will be reviewed by at least three independent reviewers from the conference review panel. The review process will conform to the Participations journal transparent review process. Selected conference papers will be published on-line in the November 2013 Issue of Participations Journal of Audience and Reception Studies. All submissions must conform to the Participations Journal of Audience and Reception Studies submission guidelines.
