RA position with opportunity to do a PhD in HCI at Bauhaus-Universität
Weimar
We are looking for a research assistant (with the opportunity to do a
PhD) on a 'Wissenschaftliche(r) Mitarbeiter Stelle' at the newly
founded HCI-group at BUW. The position is for 3 years initially, and
can be extended. See the formal advert with information on how to
apply here (in German - we are looking for German proficient
candidates only):
http://www.uni-weimar.de/de/universitaet/aktuell/stellenausschreibungen/m0226/
The position involves teaching and student supervision duties in our
(German language) bachelor and (English) master programs in media
informatics (German knowledge thus necessary), supporting research of
the group and doing original individual research, and supporting the
organisation of the research group in general.
We are looking for somebody with a master degree in either Computer
Science (Informatik) with a good knowledge of HCI, in Medieninformatik
(media computing) or HCI (some CS background preferred). You should be
interested in understanding and working with people, and have some
knowledge of HCI research methods and/or user-centered design. Ideally
you would already have some experience in building UbiComp or tangible
interface systems, or with rapid prototyping and physical computing.
You would have the opportunity to help set up and shape a new research
group and lab, to interact and collaborate with other highly-qualified
researchers in the field of Media and HCI as well as media arts and
design, to work with highly motivated bachelor and master students in
the degree program Medieninformatik where you can define projects for
them to tackle, and to live in beautiful Weimar.
The HCI group will initially consist of Professor Eva Hornecker and
two RA/s PhD students (one of them being you, the other is Patrick
Tobias Fischer). Some of our current research includes a new EU
project, where our group will focus on user studies and co-design in
the context of the creation of DYI tangibles for museums and heritage
settings, and we hope to hire another person for sometime this summer.
