SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN SPATIAL STATISTICS AND HEALTH SURVEILLANCE

SALARY: £31,331 - £36,298
To work under the supervision of Prof Peter Diggle and Mr Barry Rowlingson on a Wellcome-funded
project: Fully integrated, real-time detection, diagnosis and control of community diarrhoeal
disease clusters and outbreaks.
The project will involve the development and implementation of novel spatio-temporal statistical
methods and their implementation in a comprehensive health surveillance system. The post is based
in Lancaster, but will involve close collaboration with colleagues elsewhere in the North West of
England.
You should have a PhD or equivalent qualification in statistics or epidemiology/public health
with a strong statistical component, a record of published research and a working knowledge
of statistical programming in R, C or Fortran. Research experience in time series and/or
spatial statistics would be advantageous.
