JOB TITLE: Bioinformatics Officer

We are seeking a Bioinformatician to support a range of projects within the TPU. The successful post holder will focus primarily on the analysis and data management of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) projects, using in-house and third party software to analyse data generated using Illumina and Ion Torrent Sequencer systems.
The successful applicant will hold a BSc in Biomedical Science and an MSc or higher education in Bioinformatics, or equivalent. Significant programming experience in one or more programming languages (e.g. Perl, Python, C, etc.) and data manipulation in a bioinformatics environment (e.g. Bioconductor, R, etc.) is essential. Experience with NGS data manipulation would be advantageous.
The starting salary will be in the range £30,146 to £35,466 p.a. inclusive based on relevance of skills and experience and the position will be offered initially on a fixed-term contract of three years.
