Applications are invited for a PhD studentship in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan. Funding is available to cover both tuition costs and a stipend for four years.
The studentship will focus mainly on the development of statistical analysis of football (soccer) data using both real time and historical data.
The funding for the studentship is being provided by a broadcaster of English Premier League football and as part of the studentship the candidate will work on a project developing statistical analysis of Premier League matches.
The PhD will be under the supervision of Professor Stefan Szymanski.
Applicants should hold (or expect to obtain) a Masters degree in statistics, quantitative methods or a similar subject.
The starting date is 1 September 2013.
