Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU) and the Imperial Experimental Medicine Cancer Centre (ECMC)
Research Fellow (Clinical Trials Statistician)
Salary Range: £37,570 - £49,200 per annum
This post represents an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant statistical team within a growing Clinical Trials Unit. The Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU) was launched in 2010 and achieved full UKCRC registration in 2012 (http://www.ukcrc-ctu.org.uk/ ). The statistics team within ICTU includes both trials and methodology expertise and we are involved in clinical trials and other medical research across a wide range of therapeutic areas. We are never short of new challenges with new trial ideas proposed to us almost every week. We have an interest in global health and a successful track record of attracting funding from key funding sources such as those of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), the Medical Research Council (MRC) and Cancer Research UK.
We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced statistician to lead the work on clinical trials and other high quality studies within the cancer group (Division of Cancer and ECMC). The postholder will provide statistical support to clinical trials of all phases, predominantly in cancer, within the Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (St Mary’s and Charing Cross campuses), and also support all aspects of phase I/II clinical trials within the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (Hammersmith Hospital); the postholder will provide a statistical advisory service for cancer researchers in the Department of Surgery and Cancer. This will include all aspects of the design, implementation, running, analysis and dissemination of results from cancer clinical trials, including biomarker and “proof of concept” studies. The post is based at St Mary’s campus (2 days a week) and Hammersmith and/or Charing Cross campuses (3 days a week).
You must hold a PhD or equivalent in statistics or medical statistics. Experience of working in clinical trials, medical research or epidemiology is also essential to the post.
The post is full time (35 hours per week) or part time (minimum 21 hours per week) and fixed term until 31st March 2017. The postholder will be based on the St Mary’s campus (Paddington) and Hammersmith (East Acton)/Charing Cross Hospital (Hammersmith) campuses.
