Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position in the Statistics Department of Trinity College Dublin in the area of "Parallel Processing for Bayesian Methods at Scale". The post is available for 1 year initially, renewable for a further 2 years after that.
Expertise Required:
Ph.D. in statistics or machine learning with some experience of theory and/or application of Bayesian methods. Prior experience of programming for multi-core or multi-thread processing is an advantage.
Focus:
The focus of the research is to develop Bayesian learning methods for multi-core processing with a focus on application to streaming data. The interest is not only on scaleability ("Big Data") but in computation time ("Fast Data"). Opportunities for collaboration with several industrial partners are well developed, but interest is also in developing theory around the suitability of statistical methods to these programming paradigms.
The position is part of the newly created Insight Research Centre. This is a multi-institutional research project funded by Science Foundation Ireland.
Application can be made by submitting a CV to Simon Wilson at [log in to unmask] Informal enquiries may be made to the same address.
