Dear all,
How many universities worldwide are actively planning exit strategies
for their Blackboard based VLEs? There are a lot of reasons for wanting
to move away from Blackboard but the process of migration to another
product is daunting.
I've been giving this a lot of thought over the last few years and today
I have put up on my personal web site a kind of manifesto outlining how
I would make migration as painless as possible and in a way that will
avoid repeated 'lock in' scenarios. I'm interested to see if I can
create a kernel of an idea that will encourage universities to pool
efforts and find common solutions.
I invite you to take a look and criticise my ideas.

My contact details are at the bottom of the page if you want to contact
me. If I manage to generate enough interest I'll set up some kind of
Internet forum for further debate. Feel to free to pass on the web
address to others if you wish.

P.S. I am using my private email address and web site because these
ideas have been formed while working for several different universities
and while self-employed and don't represent the views of the university
where I now work.
