Seminar Title: Evolution of the Public Space in the Last Century
by Ms. Anastasia Zoi Souliotou, Kingston University, Dr. Dimitrios Makris, Digital Imaging Research Centre, Kingston University, and Dr. Theodore Tsekeris, Centre of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE), Greece
This seminar will address the evolution of the public space from the birth of the modern metropolis, at the dawn of 20th century, until today’s cyber-cities. The dynamics, hostility and versatility of the public space in the last century will be illustrated within transport networks, arts, and computing. Anastasia Zoi Souliotou will present her art projects, which are based on her own cyber flânerie. Dimitrios Makris will talk about recent advances in surveillance systems. Theodore Tsekeris will discuss about the role and potential of Intelligent Transport Systems in shaping the contemporary urban space.
