it's also worth pointing out that due to the bandlimitted nature of typical
3D MRI acquisitions it is not possible to use multiple volume to get higher
spatial resolution than the individual inputs. You can obtain higher SNR,
but this won't always mean higher CNR due to small differential
distortions and the concomittant blurring
