Digital Economy is an RCUK cross-council programme, aimed at realising the transformational impact of ICT for all aspects of business, society and economy. The dot.rural Hub brings together a large team of researchers (70+) working in and across the disciplines of computer science, communication engineering, human geography, sociology, transport studies, health sciences and environmental science. To support our ambitious research programme we are looking to appoint two postdoctoral research fellows.
RESEARCH FELLOW IN INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS
The successful candidate, who will work alongside colleagues in the University's Centre for Transport Research, will have a PhD or be about to complete a PhD in Transport Engineering or Transport Planning or a cognate discipline. A good knowledge of Intelligent Transport Systems is required and enthusiasm for digital technology and innovation relevant to society and the economy is essential, as is the ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team.
As this post is externally funded it is available for a period of 12 months. Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale (£30,424 -33,230 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience. The successful candidate who will work on a project entitled Smart Micro-logistics for the Rural Economy (SMiLE) will have a good knowledge of both the Transport and Logistics sectors. The candidate will have a PhD or be about to complete a PhD in Transport Engineering / Planning, Logistics or a cognate discipline. Enthusiasm for digital technology and innovation relevant to society and the economy is essential as is the ability to work in a cross-disciplinary team.
