Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring)
V&A Study Sessions
Monday 18 March– Wednesday 20 March, 2013
Location: Blythe House in Kensington Olympia.
Times: 11.00-12.30 or 14.00-15.30

2013 is the centenary of the creation of Le Sacre du Printemps (The
Rite of Spring) to music by Igor Stravinsky and designed by Nicolas
Roerich. The Theatre & Performance dept of the V&A holds a rich
collection of material relating to the original controversial
productions choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky (1913) and re-used by
Léonide Massine (1920) for Serge Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes. Six
sessions, led by Jane Pritchard, Curator of Dance, have been arranged at
the V&A’s Blythe House (its collections centre in Kensington Olympia)
to provide the opportunity for visitors to see original costumes,
accessories, drawings and ephemera relating to Le Sacre du Printemps.
