Conference Announcement and Call for Papers: ‘The Many Meanings of Quality in Healthcare’
Tuesday 4 June, 2013 | Cumberland Lodge, Windsor
http://www.cumberlandlodge.ac.uk/quality
Deadline for abstracts: 5 April 2013
What does quality of care mean for the patient, the clincian, the manager and the regulator? How might these different conceptions be reconciled? Which perspectives are lost in the current drive towards standards and standardisation? And how might we engage with different ideological perspectives on quality, whilst still being able to assure the public that acceptable standards of care are met?
Our one day conference provides a space for a timely interdisciplinary discussion of the many meanings of quality in healthcare, with the aim of better informing efforts to assure and improve the quality of care.
Confirmed keynote speakers: Dr Iona Heath, Dr Jocelyn Cornwell, and Professor Trisha Greenhalgh. Dr Havi Carel will give a public lecture in the evening.
Registration for the day is now open, and we are inviting abstracts for three panels, which will focus on:
* Patient and professional collaboration and communication in delivering quality healthcare
* The role of management, governance, standards and accountability in improving care quality
* Professional values, and their relationship to care quality
We also encourage contributions that speak to the relationships between these themes.
Further details of the conference and the abstract submission form can be found on the Cumberland Lodge website: http://www.cumberlandlodge.ac.uk/quality
