We are running a one-day workshop aimed at records or information management professionals in private and public sector organisations that are looking to use SharePoint 2010 for Records Management and want to understand the product's strengths and weaknesses in this area. The day will provide an unbiased overview of the SharePoint 2010 product, and focus on the potential pitfalls and detail of implementing the product.
The workshop is led by Marc Stephenson from Metataxis, and content includes:
* Key concepts and functions
* Demonstrations of the platform
* What lessons has Microsoft learned from SharePoint 2007?
* Detailed functional areas of RM – metadata, taxonomies, workflows, content types, the record centre etc
* SharePoint 2010 & RM standards – how does it measure up?
* Gaps between SharePoint and EDRMS application
* Development opportunities and areas of caution
* Integration with other systems
* Skills needed for information professionals to get involved in a SharePoint implementation
