Hi all
for completeness of information EGI contacted EMI in October 2012 asking
to raise the priority of these tasks. EMI could not endorse the request
mainly for manpower issues, but CERN offered support to partners willing
to maintain them as community project, whose responsibility was later on
accepted by NGI_UK (thanks to the team for this).
NGI_UK recently contacted by EGI to understand the level of support that
can be provided. The official statement is that support will continue
for the foreseeable future on a best effort basis.
Support in GGUS is being organized through a dedicated Support Unit.
I_UK.
The WN tarball (and in the future this will be applicable to the UI as
well) are now mirrored by the UMD repository. In the last month EGI has
been organizing staged rollout activities for the WN tarball to ensure
the product is tested as much as possible. We now have 6 early adopters
for SL6 and 2 for SL5 (https://www.egi.eu/earlyAdopters/teams).
UI tarballs are not ready for testing, but staged rollout for this
products is being organized in the meanwhile.
An status update of these activities was provided to NGI operations
managers this week at the February EGI operations management board
meeting (see slide 13 of this presentation

Best wishes
