WHITE ROSE STUDENTSHIP NETWORK: THE URBAN HOUSING EXPERIENCE IN THE AGE OF AUSTERITY
Three ESRC PhD studentships for full-time study commencing in October 2013 are available at the Universities of York, Sheffield and Leeds in the UK as part of the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre ESRC Network on the Urban Housing Experience in the Age of Austerity.

Each student will be supervised by two members of academic staff, one each from two of the partner universities. Students will register at one university but will have access to the research facilities of the partner institutions. The three studentships are as follows:
1) THE INCIDENCE AND SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND NEIGHBOURHOOD EFFECTS OF INVOLUNTARY HOME MOVES (York)

3) GOVERNING VULNERABILITY IN A TIME OF AUSTERITY; THE PRIVATE PROVISION OF TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT ACCOMMODATION FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE (Leeds)

Network students and supervisors will meet regularly throughout the study period, and will be additionally supported by a wider Advisory Group of academics, policymakers and practitioners from the White Rose region. The interdisciplinary supervisory teams have outstanding research track records, international connections and expertise in diverse theoretical perspectives and methodologies. Students will have the opportunity to publish key findings on a weblog and contribute to a public events series. The network also aims to develop into a new international housing research group, organise a major international public conference in 2016, and publish an edited collection of network research results, and special themed journal issues.
About the studentships
Each student receives Home/EU tuition fees for the 3 years of full-time study for the PhD, and an annual maintenance grant at the standard Research Council rate [£13,726 for 2013-14].
Eligibility and How to apply
Applicants must have a Masters degree in a related subject, or equivalent relevant experience, and must meet all the requirements for PhD study at the relevant University.
