Hi Jacqui (and all),
Apologies for the lack of specifics, I am the organiser of the event and might be able to shed some light on your questions:
We have a provisional date of Wednesday 17th July, usually 09:30 for a 10am start and we aim to finish around 4pm. However, although these dates and times are unlikely to change (they've been pretty consistent for the last four years), we usually don't confirm actual dates/times until the programme is released and delegate booking opens in early April. This is because we wouldn't want to turn a workshop away if it meant organising the day a little differently. But this is a very good estimate!
There is a website but not specifically for the conference. We can be found under 'The Arts Lab' (www.theartslab.co.uk). Information for the conference can be found under 'Events' and 'Conference'. This is an open source page, so no need to sign up to access this information specifically.
There is a rationale for why the day focuses on children and young people. Primarily this is because the event was developed amounts a small group of Educational and Child Psychologists passionate about using the arts as one way of developing practices which are socially justice (in the broadest sense). Hence, our client group was/is predominantly working with and for children and young people. We have found the conference a bit of a focus too. Those attending have always tended to work predominantly with children and young people, so there has never been consideration to re-focus the event or broaden it out very much. Having said that, all of the methods we use could quite easily be developed in use with adults. To give you an idea of areas we've covered in the past, they have included: 6-Part Story Method, therapeutic model-making, Forum Theatre, virtual worlds, music and dance - all of which could be developed for an adult client group. Contexts have been broad too - from schools to pupil-referral units and from therapeutic settings (i.e. CAMHS) to community groups. That's not to say the event won't develop in the future. For example, this is the first time the advert has been posted on the Community Psychology pages here, so new voices coming through and feeding back will be integrated into future events. In that sense, we go out of our way each year to listen and act upon feedback from delegates - something our website hopefully reflects in more detail in the 'about us' section.
I hope this helps, but if you do require any further information please feel free to contact me at [log in to unmask]
All the best
Nick
