Allen Fisher would be the first writer I'd think of--even beyond the boop
tone. (And yes, Ian, I'm interested in hear the guy intone his tone.) He
certainly borrows from the rhetoric of science producing what I would call
Scientistic though not scientific texts. Some writers also write using
technological devices as metaphor--thinking of Rick Caddel's writing at
night via his hand-held digital device--which also appeared as a recurring
image in his poetry. Phiilip Terry uses scientistic methods pioneered by
Oulipo, so he'd also be a good example. David Jones in his many accurate
allusions to the science of death and killing in WWI might also fall into
the category. I believe Francis Crick might have written some poetry--but I
do know he was a great admirer of Michael McClure's poetry. Jess
