Dear All
Some of you may remember that my book 'The Day Parliament Burned Down' was publicised in ARC and other places last year. A significant part of the book tells the story of the events which led up to the creation of the national recordkeeping system we have today in the UK, and the catastrophic fire itself was caused by a very poor records disposal decision(!)
In a shameless act of self-promotion I'm now mailing the list to let you know that on Wednesday my book was awarded 'Political Book of the Year' at the inaugural Political Book Awards: see more here

If you'd like to hear me talk about the book and its story, I'm doing a slot for the Archives and Society seminar at the IHR in London on 28 May.
In the meantime, I'd like to say thank you to everyone in the profession who has helped me along the way with research and publicity for the book...you know who you are!
Caroline
