Bristol Record Office is an important part of Bristol’s Museums,
Galleries and Archives service, which recently opened the highly
successful M-Shed museum, with archives at the heart of its displays.
We are looking for a proactive and forward-thinking Archivist to help
manage and develop our Designated collections. You will have a
postgraduate qualification in archive administration, or currently be
studying for one.
If you thrive on variety at work and want to make use of your
up-to-date skills, this is the role for you. Responsible for appraising,
acquiring, accessioning and cataloguing a wide range of records, you
will be confident handling contemporary material and processing records
held on modern media. As well as supporting searchroom staff in
providing a welcoming and informed customer service, you will work
closely with both colleagues across the Museums, Galleries and Archives
service and external partners. You will be passionate about interacting
with our audiences, and increasing access to and enjoyment of our
collections.
