Two Imaging Science Research Associates are required for a European Union Framework Seven project: Adapting Breast Cancer Screening Strategy Using Personalised Risk Estimation (ASSURE). This is a collaborative project involving leading imaging scientists, clinicians, clinical scientists, health economists, and statisticians from five European countries.
These positions will offer the post-holders exciting opportunities to develop their research skills, apply them to this high profile project, and work with leading researchers across Europe.
The appointees will develop and evaluate methods for characterising X-ray mammograms, in particular the location and pattern of radio-opaque ('dense') tissue; extend and develop models of individual breast cancer risk to include spatial and temporal density information and evaluate the work by means of systematic experimentation
The project has a significant computational element and will be particularly appropriate for candidates with a strong mathematical background and a PhD degree or equivalent in biomedical image analysis.
