Dear all
John Ward & Maria Nilsson of Luxor are involved in some amazing, mind
blowing research
(there will be a lecture at CRE conference in cambridge this year
(Current Research in Egyptology) - really worth getting - very relevant
to this list)
John and Scotty Roberts were also engaged in a more commercial
orientated project about the supposed Biblical exodus
and the presence or absence of this in Egypt's archaeological record.
Also very fascinating and fun with amazing
photos appearing on the facebook page and perhaps a blog -
I interviewed them at the Ramesseum - and will post that soon
anyways - many here might really like to follow them on fb and perhaps
comment on some of the new images and how they relate to the narrative.
The lecture at Mummification museum last sunday night was about Maqata
- a palace with attached town for workers in east thebes -
it was completely deserted in antiquity - swept clean - an exodus of
workers or did some thing make them go?
(It has been excavated several times in modern times - each time
destroying more of the site for ever - just saying that there are many
destructive forces at work on the necropolis. The ancient township
reminded me much of the recently bulldosed parts of Qurna village!
