Hello
I am a medical librarian at McGill University in Montreal, Canada and I'd
like to ask interested members of this list to help me publicise a study I
am currently conducting into the information needs and information seeking
behaviour of LGBTQ health professionals and their interaction with medical
librarians.
I'm keen to have as many results as possible from LGBTQ health
professionals in order to ensure that the results are representative so
please feel free to send the link to this survey (see below) to anybody
you think might want to take part, and please feel free to encourage them
to do the same.
This is a follow-up study to previous work undertaken in 2003
(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14762463), with additional questions
to assess the impact of internet resources and changes in library services.
The text of my invitation letter to participants is below, and the survey
itself can be completed by following this link:

The survey is, of course, completely confidential and I promise to respect
the anonymity of all participants. Please do get back in touch if you
have any further questions.
Many thanks, and apologies if you receive this message more than once from
different listservs.

Dear Health Professional,
I invite you to take part in an online survey to investigate the use of
medical libraries and librarians by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender
and/or queer (LGBTQ) health professionals. This project is important
because it will help to enable medical libraries and medical librarians to
continue to meet the needs of LGBTQ health professionals in the future.
The survey consists of 20 short questions, which should take no more than
15 minutes to complete. Participation is open to health professionals in
all areas of health care who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer,
and/or transgender and who are 18 years or older.
I hope that you will choose to respond to the questionnaire; you are also
very welcome to pass the survey link to any other colleagues who may be
interested in taking part.
I would like to assure you that the survey is completely anonymous and
that I will destroy all data gathered upon completion of the final report.
It is my intention to disseminate the anonymised, combined results at a
medical librarianship conference and through publication of a journal
article. I would also be very happy to send a copy of the results to any
respondent who indicates they would like to receive this.
To complete the survey, please click on the link below or type the address
into a browser:

Many thanks for your collaboration!
