Day 1 will offer participants a firm foundation for working with PTSD using CBT, based on comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge and underpinned by a humanistic value base. Contemporary theories of PTSD , including the Ehlers & Clark (2000) model and the role of memory processing in the maintenance of PTSD will be discussed. Assessment, formulation and treatment will be covered. Teaching will include presentation, interactive discussion, practical exercises, role play and discussion of anonomised case material.
Day 2. will focus on treatment of PTSD. Work will focus on the Ehlers & Clark (2000) model and the CBT process of Reliving. Reliving is regarded as the gold standard by many in the treatment of PTSD. It is also supported by a substantial evidence base. Delegates will learn how to use reliving in a sensitive way that respects the relationship between client and therapist and respond to the complexities of PTSD in a creative, ethical and effective manner. Teaching will include presentation, interactive discussion, practical exercises, role play and discussion of anonomised case material.
