Good morning
As you know I am a send alone OHA. I am due to see a gentleman next week who is one of a team of 5 men who work in a remote location on a pig insemination unit. His role is to work and drive with heavy farm machinery. He is required to hold pigs an inject them. Clean out the pig runs etc. Some working alone would be required. The farm is a vast area. It has no land line and not good mobile coverage - (This I have already pointed out and a land line is to be fitted and also a walkie talkies are being looked into - however this is another long and interesting story!!) Just before christmas he had a 'severe heart attack' and was advised he was very lucky to be alive. He had a stent fitted within the first few days and has made a good recovery.
His manager is his brother and the team are very close knit.
His manager (brother) advised HR last week that he would be returning to work on 1.2.13 and not to undertake heavy work.
HR have instructed that he should not return to work until he has been assessed by me.
I would say he could not drive or operate machinery for work for 6 months - (following the group 2 advice) but I really am not happy assessing this gentleman and would like to refer him on. Does anyone know of any good OH doctors/ consultants in the Norfolk/ Cambridge/ Suffolk area please. Or do you think I am being over cautious.
Thanks for any comments
Kind Regards
Tracy
