With apologies for shameless self promotion, my
forthcoming book on The Waltons (due from IB Tauris at the end of this
month) may be of some use. There is some discussion of film, as well as
other aspects of seventies pop culture, but the main focus is the TV
series and the way it attempts to restore faith in key aspects of the
