Hi Maria -
This is an area that I am particularly interested in myself (through practice and theory) - and asking the question - what is drawing? what is dance? What tools do you use to draw with. As a performer (with a body weather background) I am interested in my body drawing through space. When I draw with a more 'traditional tool' - ie pencil - I often like to think of the process of drawing/mark making and where I am drawing from - which part of my body. Where is my awareness? Between my index finger and the pencil? Where the nib meets the paper - beyond that? my elbow ? what are my feet doing? What am I listening to? Responding to etc..?
In brief - as for many artists/dancers daily practice is an important factor. I am draw from Buddhist and Japanese practices - such as Enso, Tea ceremony - mindfulness practice.
Not related to the above - http://www.frieze.com/issue/review/dance-draw/
best - Kirsten

Hi Maria - have you looked at the work of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. There is a video called 'Fase' - four pieces - one where she dances with sand and another with her own (and the other performers) shadow.

Subject: Help in my research
Hello everyone,
I am a fine art student and I was wondering if anyone could help me on my research. I am interested on the relationship between dance and drawing. Any information would be gratefully received.
With thanks,
Maria Afonso
