Dear Colleagues
The date on the call for submission proposals was wrong and should read March 1st (not February 1st). Sorry for the mix up and a prize to Howard Riley for noticing.

Call for Submissions for the 2013 DRN Conference: Interweavings: Pedagogy, Methodology and Research
The Directors of the Drawing Research Network and 1-2-3-Draw are proud to announce the date of the 2013 DRN Conference in partnership with Teachers College Columbia University, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Thinking Through Drawing Symposium series.
The conference and symposium will run together from the 24th till the 26th of October, 2013: held at Teachers College Columbia University and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The DRN conference is calling for papers, presentations and workshops on the theme of 'Interweavings: Pedagogy, Methodology and Research'.
Drawing is rarely a pure thing: practice shapes research, pedagogy shapes practice and research shapes both: as we think with, through, and about drawings and drawing practices, how might pedagogy, methodology and research inform one another?
We are looking for proposals that would address at least one, but preferably more than one of these four modes of engagement with drawing.
What methods can we adapt from drawing researchers that can be useful in education settings?
How might the teaching and learning of and with drawing provide rich inspiration for research?
What do methods that are not exclusive to visual practitioners, but also engage with others who draw as part of their professional practice, have to offer researchers and educators in a variety of disciplines?
Can the act of drawing itself be a form of research, and if so, what methods might reveal this particular function of drawing?
To carry forward the notion that drawing offers a transdisciplinary mode of research the conference invites a range of different forms of submission. We are calling for:
Drawn submissions addressing or challenging the conference theme (which may or may not require textual support to do their work)
Full theoretical, historical, educational papers or reports on practice addressing the conference theme
Performative drawing submissions addressing or challenging the conference theme
Drawing pieces for inclusion in the DRN 2013 Juried 'Digitally Projected' virtual drawing exhibition (see the exhibition call attached below)
In the first instance proposals for submissions are invited to the Directors of the DRN and 1-2-3 Draw by the 1st of March 2013. All papers will be put through a peer review process. A selected sample of submissions will be published as part of a special edition of the journal TRACEY, or be included in the TRACEY/PROJECT space. All contributions that are accepted for the conference will be carried as part of the Conference Proceedings via the DRN website.
