European Oil and Gas Archives:
Corporate Engagement and Public Access
Wednesday 19th – Friday 21st June 2013
University of Aberdeen, UK
We are pleased to announce a call for papers for the 4th conference of the
European Oil & Gas Archives Network (EOGAN) which will be hosted by the
University of Aberdeen’s Special Collections Centre at the Sir Duncan Rice
Library.
EOGAN aims to create a network of people working to preserve and promote
the use of oil and gas related records, by the industry itself,
researchers and the public and membership is open to:
· archivists and records managers working within the oil and gas
sector (companies, state agencies and archival insitutions)
· research institutions/researchers interested in the energy sector
The annual EOGAN meeting is not a large conference, rather a meeting place
where you have a chance to make personal acquaintances and create links
that may be useful in your daily work. This year we will be exploring the
following topics under the overarching theme of ’Corporate Engagement and
Public Access’.
· Promoting corporate engagement with EOGAN aims (acknowledgment
of the value of oil and gas archives)
· The feasibility of a European energy archives portal
· Digitisation models
· Public access and access restrictions
· New frontiers of research on oil and gas through access to new
archives and records
· Reports from research centres and oil and gas archives
· The corporate archivist and communication: new skills and
opportunities
We invite you to submit papers on the topics listed above. They can be
interpreted broadly and we welcome diverse papers within the field. Please
submit your abstract by following the links on our website at
www.abdn.ac.uk/events/eogan-2013. The submissions deadline is 8th
February, 2013. You are also welcome to suggest other themes that you find
relevant for this meeting to address. We look forward to receiving your
submissions.
