EAST OF ENGLAND REGIONAL ARCHIVES COUNCIL (EERAC)
The East of England Regional Archives Council invites applications for grants in 2013 under its new small grants scheme.
PURPOSE OF THE GRANTS
Grants are intended to support work focussed on small archival projects for which it is difficult to find alternative funding. The aim of such projects should be to support the preservation of or access to historical records in the East of England; they can include the purchase of archival supplies, conservation, storage, cataloguing, the provision of lists for the National Register of Archives and the digitisation of records to enable their free online dissemination. Projects relating to sound/audio archives are welcome. Grants will only be awarded to projects which can demonstrate a commitment to long term preservation of and/or access to archival material. EERAC particularly wishes to support work relating to records at risk of dispersal, neglect, loss or damage. Applications from partnerships of more than one organisation are acceptable.
SIZE OF THE GRANTS
We intend to offer grants in annual rounds over the next three years. In 2013 a total of £2750 will be offered, with a minimum of £750 ringfenced for sound archives. Grants are normally offered as sums of £750 and £500, but EERAC reserves the right to disburse grants of different sizes where it sees fit. Grants will not normally exceed 50% of the total cost of the project.
ELIGIBILITY
Applications will be accepted from archives, archivists and user groups which are based in the East of England region covered by EERAC (Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Peterborough and Suffolk).
APPLYING FOR GRANTS
Further guidance for applicants may be found in the document ‘EERAC Small Grants’, which may be obtained from Dr Anthony Smith, Chairman of EERAC, at [log in to unmask] or in writing via The British Records Association, Finsbury Library, 245 St Johns Street, London EC1V 4NB.
For grants payable in 2013, applications must be received by EERAC no later than 1st March 2013. It is expected that successful applicants will be notified, and grant payments made, during June 2013.
