A reminder that the deadline to submit bids is on 14 January.
The MeCCSA Postgraduate Network (MeCCSA-PGN) seeks applications from post-graduate students interested in hosting a training event at their UK home institution in Spring 2013. MeCCSA-PGN is able to contribute £300 towards the costs for the event, though applicants are also encouraged to seek additional support from their institution.
The training event may take the form of a full-day workshop or two half-day workshops and it must be led by post-graduate students. The event should focus on broad, general scholarly issues of interest, or may focus more keenly on areas of specific and contemporary disciplinary interest. The following information gives guidance for prospective applicants.
Bid documents should not exceed 2,000 words. Please include brief information about your university, faculty, graduate school and other relevant bodies. The main part of the application should focus on a detailed outline of the event. This would include a rationale for the event (establishing relevance, etc.), the exact location of the event (and the facilities available), expected attendance, the structure and timetable for the event (including refreshment breaks) and the credentials of academic/professional expert(s) who have preferably confirmed their participation. Further, if the application contends to charge MeCCSA PGN delegates a fee for attendance, a provisional budget will need to be provided (though bids which maintain a low fee or free attendance charge will be preferred).
Ideally, applicants will also outline why their faculty/institution is/are well-suited to hosting the event. For example, if the subject of the training event is closely related to the research interests of faculty staff/post-graduate students who would be involved, this would be welcomed.
Please state the individual(s) who propose(s) to organise the event, who will have to liaise with the MeCCSA Training Officer (David Smith) prior to the event. Additionally, a letter of support from the organising faculty/institution is required to be sent with the application.
The MeCCSA PGN network executive committee will review each bid and subsequently reply to each applicant regarding the outcome of their bid by late-January. The event is expected to be held between April and June, 2013.
Deadline: Please submit your completed bid to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by January 14, 2013.
Please note that this call for bids is separate from the call for hosts of our 2014 Conference that we issued last week.
