Post 3 - Fixed Term Contract from 1 April 2013 until 31 March 2018
The Astronomy & Astrophysics group at the University of Warwick is
seeking three ambitious post-doctoral researchers to work within the
project "White dwarfs as tracers of stellar, binary, and planetary
evolution". The positions are funded by an ERC Advanced Grant held by
Boris Gaensicke, and the team will include at least three PhD students
as well. The overarching aim of the project is to use a range of deep
large-area surveys to identify an all-sky sample of white dwarfs,
carry out detailed follow-up observations, and investigate questions
ranging from the evolution of planetary systems to the nature of SNIa
progenitors.
You must hold, or be about to obtain, a PhD in astronomy. Experience
in observational astronomy and data reduction, survey astronomy and
data mining, or model atmospheres, will be a strong advantage.
You should submit a signed covering letter with a concise description
of your research accomplishments and interests and relevant technical
experience, as well as a CV including a full publication list.
Informal enquiries: Prof. Boris Gaensicke ([log in to unmask])
The closing date/time for applications is midnight (British time) at
the end of Monday 04 February 2013.
