What would Christmaslessness be like I wonder?
There'd still be downtoolsing and gathering round
But no holly and bon-bons; how does that sound?
Family and friends would still tuck in together,
Gifts could still be exchanged and even ritual cards
But no deer, no snow and less smiling so hard.
But where is the focus? I'm sure some will say.
Well done for surviving, seeing out the year,
Hope next year's a good one; chin up, here's Cheers.
As if stopping and restarting were not enough.
We're humans, we know how to muse and reflect;
Let's celebrate living; surely none can object.
