Colleagues,
I've replied separately to Stephen, but this is a general reminder that
the JISC MediaHub service, http://jiscmediahub.ac.uk/ hosted here at
EDINA, contains thousands of ITV News items from the 1980s and 1990s,
from the Lunchtime, Early Evening and Late Evening News.
Unfortunately, JISC MediaHub does not hold or search BBC News footage.
Anyone can search JISC MediaHub, but, to view the news footage itself,
you must be a member of an institution that subscribes to JISC eCollections:
http://www.jiscecollections.ac.uk/
The best place to find out more about the newsfilm in JISC MediaHub is
the Explore Newsfilm section:
http://jiscmediahub.ac.uk/explore/newsfilm
which has links to information about how the majority of the content was
selected:
http://jiscmediahub.ac.uk/explore/newsfilmSelection
and digitised by the Newsfilm Online (NFO) project that was run by the
BUFVC with ITN:
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/programmes/digitisation/bufvc.aspx.
There's also a timeline that will help you search a suitable period:
http://jiscmediahub.ac.uk/explore/newsfilmTimeline
We are always interested in feedback from users, so, if you have the
time, I'd be very grateful if you'd complete the short survey:
https://www.survey.ed.ac.uk/mediahub_2012_13/
If you have any queries, please contact the EDINA helpdesk, copied above.
Best wishes
Rick Loup
