Dear all
(Apologies for cross posting)
After Christmas I will be working on the 2013 RFID survey.
This time we're running the survey in two parts - the second a little later
in the year. The first part concentrates on the factual details (hardware
and software in use, ILS/LMS and RFID supplier etc.) and is being run in
conjunction with Marshall's LTG site. The second will focus on opinion,
plans, quality of service etc.
93 organisations have so far responded to my first request asking for a key
person in your organisation to channel information to Marshall's website
(which allows only one entry per organisation) when we set it up. If you
haven't replied already - or are unsure if anyone else in your organisation
may have done so - please let me know by email to [log in to unmask] so
that we can include your library. I can de-duplicate if needed.
Last year there were an impressive 600+ replies to the survey - but that's
still at least 2700 fewer libraries than most suppliers claim are using the
technology. So we want to obtain a more accurate picture in 2013. More
libraries are doing ever more interesting and exciting things with RFID and
2013 promises to be the year we start to see even more RFID-enabled devices
(like NFC enabled tablets and phones) in the library.
IFLA have promised their help in reaching non-English speaking users, so
please help make this the most comprehensive survey ever by taking the time
to make contact - or pass on this message to anyone else you know who can
contribute - wherever they are.
Thanks very much
Mick
