International data blitz – engage, observe, participate, network & learn
Date: Wednesday, 12 December 2012 Time: 18.00-19.45
Place: CILIP, 7 Ridgmount Street, London WC1E 7AE
Cost: FREE - all welcome (but please book online at www.tinyurl.com/iligdatablitz)
Fancy sharing your experiences, expressing your opinion or just broadening your knowledge and networking with colleagues? ILIG invites
participants and observers, members and non-members to our inaugural ‘lightening’ Informal, with an essence of data-blitz.
What’s it all about?
A lightning talk is a short presentation given at a conference or similar forum. Lightning talks last only a few minutes and several will usually be delivered in a single period by different speakers. The term data blitz is sometimes used to refer to a session of lightning talks.
ref. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_talk
The ILIG data blitz will consist of as many 5 minute lightening talks that we can comfortably fit into the evening. Attendees are invited to
put their name into the hat to be a potential ‘speaker’ or to be an ‘observer’. Speakers should prepare, or be prepared to give, an informal 5 minute talk on a topic of their own choosing with a link to libraries or information provision in an international context. Subject-matter can be humorous or serious, topical or a historical perspective..... it's up to you, just keep it within the 5 minutes.
Speakers will be drawn at random and themes and topics will not be announced beforehand. Light festive refreshments are served which is
why we ask you to let ILIG know you are coming by booking online at www.tinyurl.com/iligdatablitz by 10th December.
Although this event is free we will welcome donations to help support the CILIP / IFLA Aspire Award which was set up in memory of Bob McKee
