Norfolk surely win for "shameless polygons"...
http://www.heritage.norfolk.gov.uk/map-search <http://www.heritage.norfolk.gov.uk/map-search>
But regarding the "first", well when I was at WoSAS we went online in around 1999 I think, though I admit I cannot remember precisely. Still working, now with mapping, at http://wosas.net/search.php
And of course various national records/collections were going online in the late 90s, including ArchSearch and NMRS.

That could be a winner, Nick. We went on line in late 2003 - but I suspect that we may have been the first with detailed digital mapping. We may still be the only one - does anyone else exhibit their polygons so shamelessly?

Aye up, Festive office decoration have instilled a light hearted frame of mind, despite my best efforts (Humbug!), hence this email
So, anyway, whilst rummaging through some old files for some information, I came across a titbit of information that Durham SMR may have been the first online - that was the claim - and it went online in April 2000. I remember at the last forum vague murmurings that Warwickshire went online first - do we got you beat, Ben?
This was without HLF funding, but as part of a bid for our Keys to the Past HLF site which went online in about 2003
best wishes
