Hi,
I have had experience of a chap having a GTT in a OPD clinic. The fasting POCT glucose was over 20mmol/L but the lab result was only 6 mmol/L. On repeat the same was observed. After investigation, the chap had a sherbet fountain in his pocket, skewing the POCT glucose test somewhat! And pin pointing the need to wash patients hands!

Dear Colleagues,
I am looking for case histories that reflect POCT issues for use in training student nurses. All contributions gratefully accepted.
Happy christmas,
