Chemist Postdoctoral Fellow - 75310
Organization: CH-Chemical Sciences
A position for a Postdoctoral Fellow is available in the Atomic, Molecular, and Optical theory group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, within the project “Simulating the generation, evolution and fate of electronic excitations in molecular and nanoscale materials with first principles methods” that has been funded through the Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computing (SciDAC) program of the Department of Energy.
Responsibilities:
The appointment will entail the implementation and use of a combined grid and Gaussian basis electronic structure method to study metastable electronic states.
Specifically you will:
• Computer program using Fortran 90 or C.
• Develop scripts and user interfaces for the developed code.
• Perform calculations for publication with the developed code.
• Write journal articles on the method and the calculations.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
• Attend conferences and present the work.
Qualifications:
• A recent Ph.D in computer engineering, applied math, chemistry, physics, or similar disciplines.
• Expertise in Galerkin (basis set) methods for solving differential equations.
• Expertise in linear algebra.
• Experience with shared and distributed memory parallel computing.
• Experience with quantum chemistry.
• Experience with complex analysis.
