Hi All,

I am writing from Women Make Movies, the non-profit distributor of films by and about women, to let you know about our **new release**, WATER CHILDREN. This film is an excellent teaching tool for courses that address issues related to Cinema and Documentary Studies.

To celebrate this new release, WMM is offering a special promotion on ALL our titles related Cinema and Documentary Studies.

I am posting more info below on WATER CHILDREN and this special offer. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and thanks as always for supporting independent women filmmakers!

WATER CHILDREN <http://www.wmm.com/filmcatalog/pages/c832.shtml>

"As sensuous as Werner Herzog's early work or Terence Malick's Tree of Life...an extended moment of the sublime." De Groene Amsterdammer

WATER CHILDREN is an acclaimed, hauntingly beautiful film and an important resource for cinema and documentary studies, art and performance courses. Director Aliona van der Horst follows the unconventional Japanese-Dutch pianist Tomoko Mukaiyama as she explores the miracle of fertility and the cycle of life - sometimes joyful, sometimes tragic. When Mukaiyama recognized that her childbearing years were ending, she created a multimedia art project on the subject in a village in Japan, constructing what she calls a cathedral, out of 12,000 silk white dresses. While Mukaiyama's own mesmerizing music provides a haunting backdrop to the film, her installation elicits confessions from normally reticent Japanese visitors, many of whom have never seen art before - and in moving scenes, they open up about previously taboo subjects.
